Ergonomics
Ergonomics is the study of the physical relationship of work and how it relates to the individual.
In the workplace, repetitive motion and bad posture can lead to repetitive stress injuries. Untreated, recurring pain and loss of function can develop from these injuries. Thankfully, physical therapy can be helpful for evaluating and managing workplace injuries associated with repetitive strain, as well as preventing future injuries.
You might benefit from ergonomic physical therapy if you’ve experienced:
- Pain or burning sensation in the fingers, wrists, or other parts of the body
- Tingling or numbness
- Swelling, inflammation, or joint stiffness
- Loss of muscle function or weakness
- Discomfort or pain in the shoulders, neck, or upper or lower back
- Discomfort when making certain movements
- Extremities turning white or feeling unusually cold
- General feeling of muscle tightness, cramping, or discomfort
- Clumsiness or loss of coordination
- Range of motion loss
